An Elecrostatic Pest Exclusion Strategy for Greenhouse Tomato Cultivation

Electrostatic devices generating an electric field (EF) are promising tools for greenhouse tomato cultivation. In these devices, EF is generated in the space surrounding insulated conductor (IC) that charged by a voltage generator. Thus, physical force exerted on any insect enters EF, as negatively IC (NC-IC) pushes negative charge (free electrons) out of body. The polarized positively to be attracted NC-IC, and grounded metal net (G-MN) repels insect. This dual function apparatus (insect capture repulsion) core electrostatic pest-exclusion strategy. this study, we applied various innovative EF-based evaluate their efficacy Our objective was determine optimal simple, inexpensive construction workers. results study will contribute development sustainable pest-management protocols horticulture.
